Join the TXHSWS and their Industry Partners for the Instructor Seminar at Arclabs Welding School In Houston!

We will be discussing the educational changes in a post COVID 19 environment.  Educators and Instructors have the internal need to refresh our knowledge, experience new educational applications for the classroom, make contacts with important industry partners and discuss the importance of new industry trends in order to better educate ourselves as teachers. Concepts presented and discussed at this event are designed to easily transcend into the applicational skills that our high school students need to be successful. 

 

Welding Instructors! Walk away with:

  • Practical, applicable insights for teaching new industry concepts

  • Knowledge on how to break down some basic concepts for student absorption

  • Strategies that are focused on welding instruction.

Continuing Education Units will be offered through Texas A&M University.

Day One – Tuesday, July 13, 2021

Opening General Session

Gene Crook, Arclabs Welding School

Gene Crook is the 100% owner and founder of Arclabs, LLC, an S Corporation d/b/a Arclabs Welding School. Gene has a long history in the welding trade. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech, a member of the American Welding Society, has served on the national committee for the National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA), and once served as the Vice-Chair for the Welding Advisory Committee at Greenville Technical College. In 1975, Gene founded Task Industrial as a precision machining and fabrication company. He grew the company to over 100 employees with annual sales more than $10 million dollars. Task quickly became one of the largest metal working job shops in South Carolina.

Session #3 - Preparing Students for Work in the Welding Industry

An overview of industry welding needs in and around the gulf coast region.  This session will look into how each industry operates and, in particular, how varying industries employ specific welding processes and personnel, as well as explore how current academic welding program curricula compares to the needs of industry.

Session #4 - Gas Welding & Oxy Fuel Cutting - Procedures and Safety

Learn how to set-up and operate Oxy/Fuel cutting torch and regulators.  Safety and steps to get the most out of your cutting equipment.

Learn about the properties of metals and the changes that can occur during the welding process. We will lay to rest some welding myths and conform the facts around quenching, tempering, welding techniques, weld testing processes and more.

An in-depth look on how to evaluate the proper metals, equipment, and welding processes to conduct a successful weld procedure and ultimately successful project.
